Bobby Lashley made his return to WWE action at a house show on Saturday. Since his move to "WWE SmackDown" in the draft, Lashley had been absent from television and live events. His last match took place on May 12, where he faced AJ Styles in a World Heavyweight Championship semi-finals match on "SmackDown" but fell short. However, the situation changed on June 17 when Lashley made his comeback at a WWE Supershow in Cincinnati, Ohio. He emerged victorious in a singles match against Karrion Kross, marking their first-ever encounter. Currently, there is no information available regarding the reasons behind Lashley's absence for over a month.

Lashley's journey in 2023 has seen its ups and downs. He initially challenged Austin Theory for the United States Championship and participated in the Royal Rumble match. During the Rumble, Lashley reignited his rivalry with Brock Lesnar, setting the stage for a rematch at WWE Elimination Chamber. Lashley emerged as the winner by disqualification, seemingly positioning himself for a WrestleMania 39 showdown against Bray Wyatt.
However, Wyatt's removal from storylines due to a reported health issue left Lashley without an opponent for the grand event. Despite the setback, Lashley secured victory in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal a day before WrestleMania. He made a few appearances on "WWE Raw" in April and then challenged for the U.S. title at WWE Backlash in a triple threat match involving Theory and Bronson Reed.
